Donating a Lost Stock box
Helping vulnerable people with a clothes donation is so important, now more than ever.
Of the 14 million people living in poverty in the UK today, countless have very little to wear. Clothes keep us warm - vital as we move into the winter months, but having clean, appropriate clothes is much more than that. When clothes poverty is addressed, it can empower. People can attend job interviews or training, send their children to school, get the self-confidence they need to take the next step in their lives, and combat their current crisis.
Over 220 Lost Stock shoppers have bought a Donate Lost Stock. This is a Lost Stock box that we donate, on their behalf to a refugee, homelessness, children’s or women’s organisation. Plus, we’re now donating even more boxes through our Cyber Weekend promotion - for every box bought over this period, we are donating an extra one to a good cause.
Here are some of the charities and organisations we’re working with, and where the clothes bought through Donate Lost Stock go.
All of them are doing fantastic things, in an increasingly difficult climate.
Crisis at Christmas
Each year Crisis supports thousands of people who are homeless. And now, as the festive period approaches, they’re helping people through Crisis at Christmas.
This Christmas, their frontline teams will be providing food and festive treats. They’ll be on hand with emotional and wellbeing support, offering everything from Christmas games and advice to volunteer befrienders. They’ll also provide nutritious meals, somewhere to stay, help for the future. Plus, the clothes from our Donate for Good boxes will also be included.
“The whole Crisis this Christmas team would like to say a huge thank you to Lost Stock’s customers for their amazing generosity. We have received a brilliant selection of warm, comfortable clothing which will be given to guests over Christmas.
“Every year, we open centres to offer warmth, companionship and vital services to people experiencing homelessness at one of the hardest times of the year. Brand new clothes can really boost self-confidence and looking after basic needs like food and clothing means our guests have the headspace to engage with the other services we offer such as housing advice and healthcare, beginning their journey out of homelessness. From all of us, thank you!” – Alice Midgley, Resources Manager for Crisis this Christmas
The Passage
The Passage is a London based charity. They aim to provide homeless people with support to transform their own lives. They run a wide range of services, including the UK’s largest voluntary sector Resource Centre for homeless and vulnerable people. Helping up to 150 people each day, they have three residential projects providing accommodation, street outreach, and a number of homeless prevention projects.
Refuweegee
Refuweegee provides a warm welcome to forcibly displaced people arriving in Glasgow. They have provided over 5,000 welcome packs to the recently arrived community.
Arriving in a new city can be isolating, and through their welcome packs, community events and volunteering opportunities they provide people with helpful essentials.
Shakti Women's Aid
Shakti Women’s Aid helps BME women, children, and young people experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic abuse from a partner, ex-partner, and/ or other members of the household.
They have a refuge, and provide essential support and services to help women in times of crisis.
Aberlour Children’s Trust
Aberlour Children’s Trust supports children, young people and families all over Scotland. They make sure they get the help they need through many different services from residential and fostering, through to an urgent assistance fund.
This help is needed now more than ever as many families in Scotland are seeing new depths of poverty with a huge amount of job losses, and more predicted. Many can’t afford to feed or clothe their children – never mind think of Christmas.

We’ve loved working with these fantastic charities and organisations and it’s great knowing that our Lost Stock boxes are supporting people both at home and in Bangladesh.
Many of our organisations are based in the UK, but we’re always keen to work with other organisations, in the UK and elsewhere, so please let us know if you have suggestions of where a box of clothes could help those in need. Just get in touch at support@loststock.com.
